Welcome to the historic Aberdeen Inn

Learn the Storied Past of The Aberdeen Inn

The 1800s

The Aberdeen Inn has a long and storied past. Although the exact date of the inn’s construction is unknown, there are a few pieces of information about its early owners.

The 1900s

In the mid-1900s, Gene Glick bought the property and renamed it Timberlake Farms. He used it to breed horses and brought over Charo King, a cutting quarter horse from Texas, to serve as his first stallion.

The Modern Era

Lifelong friends Roxanne Chayhitz and Barbereen Sexton purchased the inn in December of 2018. Intent on respecting the history of this place, the two business partners are very open to the advice offered by the inn’s previous owners.

Additions, Renovations, and Remodels

The Aberdeen Inn has undergone several changes to its structure throughout the years. These include the following:

  • The original front door was moved to its current location.
  • The backdoor in the southwest corner of today’s tavern was uncovered during construction in 1995.
  • To bring plumbing indoors, the bathroom near the old entry door and the bath for the Aberdeen Suite were added sometime in the early 1900s.
  • The second bedroom originally exited the old stairs to the left, but the doorway was closed when the inn was constructed.
  • The 18” thick masonry wall between the second bedroom and the master’s bedroom was cut to make way for the addition of French doors to the suite.
  • A second story was added over the original cook kitchen, which functions as the tavern today. This adjoins the second bedroom through a double door.
  • At least two subsequent westward expansions created the current kitchen, allowing the original cook kitchen to be remodeled into a dining room.
  • After the opening of the inn, the dining room was expanded toward the east, doubling its size.
